Editorial Standards
Purpose of the catalogue
The INESB Public Domain Literature Library provides free access to public-domain ebooks with editorial context. Its aim is to help readers discover and engage with historical and literary works through curated categories, notes, and recommendations.
Scope and selection
The library currently contains 94 ebooks, all sourced from Project Gutenberg. Selection is based on thematic coherence around frontier and Western themes, including adventure, history, and social commentary. The collection does not claim to be comprehensive or representative of all public-domain works.
Source attribution
Every ebook is attributed to its original author, translator, illustrator, and publisher as recorded by Project Gutenberg. Bibliographic fields—such as author, title, and keywords—are reproduced faithfully from the source.
Bibliographic records
Each book record includes title, author(s), publisher, keywords, target reader, and a catalogue note written by the editor. Keywords are drawn from Library of Congress Subject Headings. Target reader is generally “Readers of public-domain and historical texts.”
Category assignment
Categories are thematic groupings designed as navigation aids. Assignment is based on the editor's judgment after reviewing the content and catalogue notes. Books may fit multiple categories; the assignment reflects the primary theme used in this catalogue.
Editorial reading context
